Natasha advises major insurers both locally and internationally on coverage issues and handles litigation related to general insurance assets, property liability, and subrogated recoveries. Her work includes directors’ and officers’ liability, professional indemnity, product liability and recall litigation.
In the medical field, Natasha deals with medical and dental malpractice and personal injury claims, representing private healthcare facilities, individual healthcare practitioners, and she has also acted for the Department of Health in South Africa. She also represents healthcare practitioners in professional misconduct complaints before statutory bodies such as the HPCSA, AHPCSA, and SAPC.
Natasha’s expertise extends to pharmaceutical companies, manufacturers and suppliers of medicines and medical devices, in both the private and public healthcare sectors. She advises on healthcare and pharmaceutical regulations, vaccine laws, indemnification, vaccine injury compensation systems, class actions, and product liability litigation in Africa. Her work includes risk assessments and supplier agreements for the procurement and supply of medicines and medical devices, including the Covid-19 vaccine.
She also advises on clinical trials, compliance with the Marketing Code Authority, and the use of medicinal cannabis and nuclear medicine in South Africa. Additionally, Natasha has advised international stem cell donor organisations and healthcare facilities on the use of artificial intelligence in medical treatment plans.
Natasha has been involved in large, complex insurance and reinsurance arbitrations, representing major insurers in coverage disputes. Prior to joining Fairbridges Wertheim Becker, she was a director at an international global law firm.
Natasha regularly publishes articles in various magazines, journals, and newsletters. She presents on insurance and medical law topics at seminars, symposiums, conferences, and lectures on aspects of healthcare law.
