Matthew was admitted as an attorney in 2005 and practices in corporate and commercial law. He was appointed as a director in early 2020 to grow our already flourishing and most capable commercial practice group. His practice encompasses:
• Clean, clear commercial legal drafting;
• the negotiation and preparation of a variety of commercial agreements including sales of shares, sales of businesses, commercial restraints, commercial leases;
• Mining law and mineral regulation, both in respect of transactional work as well as the regulatory requirements of the mining industry, and is an expert in this field, having advised various major and junior mining companies in numerous commercial transactions; and
• The public law implications of transactions.
He acts for several listed and unlisted corporate entities, including multinational and junior mining companies and construction companies. He also advises various NPOs on commercial legal matters. These clients include the Advertising Regulatory Board, the National Arts Festival, the Marketing Association of Southern Africa, and Methodist Homes for the Aged.
